Ireland ODI

The ODI History of Ireland

Ireland are a cricket team who have risen to prominence in recent years on the One Day International front. Their first involvement when it came to the Cricket World Cup was in in 2007 when the tournament was enlarged to sixteen teams.

Incredibly and against the cricket betting odds, the Irish were able to finish second in the World Cup group, with Ireland tying their opening clash against Zimbabwe before amazingly beating Pakistan by three wickets and this match was decided on a Duckworth Lewis method.

Despite being destroyed by West Indies in the final group match, they were able to go through to the Super 8 Stage which was a much tougher ask for an inexperienced group. Ireland were able to record a 74-run win over Bangladesh although they lost all their remaining matches to finish bottom of the section.

The Ireland ODI team were able to reach the 2011 Cricket World Cup and they finished sixth out of seven teams when it came to Group B. There were two victories amidst the defeats, with Ireland racking up a famous win over England when they triumphed by three wickets.

There was also a win over the Netherlands by six wickets, with the Irish then proving to be competitive at the 2015 World Cup when winning three and losing three of their pool games. They narrowly failed to qualify for the next stage, although there were some impressive wins.

Beating the West Indies in Nelson was a promising start and there was also a win over the United Arab Emirates before a five-run win over Zimbabwe.

Who Holds the ODI Records for Ireland?
